What does membership mean?
In general, church membership means that a person identifies with the body of Christ through the ministry of a particular church. Membership in c|Life is a commitment to growing in relationship with and serving the Lord Jesus Christ in unity with other members of c|Life.
Why is membership important?
Two words capture the importance of membership: accountability and commitment.
Commitment means that the expectations of c|Life are a priority in your lifestyle and ministry. These expectations include:
- Having an INTIMATE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST,
- Agreeing with and living out c|Life BELIEFS AND CORE VALUES,
- Being an active MEMBER OF A COMMUNITY GROUP where the four priority relationships (Matthew 22:37-40 and 28:19-20) are learned and practiced:
- INTIMACY with God (loving God),
- COMMUNITY with other believers (being a spiritual family),
- INFLUENCE with unbelievers (relational evangelism), and
- PERSONAL MATURITY (spiritual growth),
- SERVING IN MINISTRY inside c|Life and in the workplace, and
- Supporting God’s work at c|Life through FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
Accountability means entrusting others (other c|Life members) to hold you accountable to living out the commitments of membership. This includes both lifestyle and ministry commitments.
